Enjoy:

10. Relentless

photo

Starring: Gideon Okeke (Tinsel), Nneka, Jimmy Jean-Louis and Aloba Taiwo
Year of production: 2010
Production Platform: Clam Films
Directed by: Andy Amadi Okoroafor
Genre: Drama
Shot on: Celluloid (35mm)
NOTES: Brillant Cinematography with stunning visuals of the beautiful bustling city of Lagos to go with it. Very good performance from Gideon.
-Con: Really, 'I' didn't get what this film is about!
It's generally a good watch anyway.... I would recommend to anyone who wants to catch a movie at a leisure hour...

9. Flower Girl

photo

Starring: Damilola Adegbite, Chris Attoh, Eku Edewor, Bikiya Graham Douglas and Chuks Chukwujekwu
Year of production: 2013
Production Platform: Blu Star Entertainment
Directed by: Michelle Bello
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Shot on: Red camera
NOTES: Brilliant Cinematography and stunning visuals with a good story to go with it. And a lot of beautiful casts.
-con: It's unrealistic for most part (I don't know if this is a con though)....so if you are looking for 'Realism', don't bother.

8. Murder at Prime Suites (M@PS)
photo

Starring: Joseph Benjamin, Keira Hewatch and Chelsea Eze
Year of production: 2013
Production Platform: C&C Screen Production
Directed by: Eneaji Chris EnenG
Genre: Crime Thriller
Shot on: HDSLR (Not sure, it just looks like it grin)
NOTES: This is a very brilliant movie with a good story! Very professional! Well researched! and it didn't try to 'overdo' itself. Above all, it makes lots of sense...it didn't propagate any bullshiit Nigerian stereotype like a typical 'old nollywood' style movie would do for a movie of this genre. It was very practical all through. Also good performance from beautiful Keira Hewatch....I'm watching you.
-Con: It was suppose to be a 'thriller', but for me o (I don't know about you), I didn't see any serious suspense. Again I wish there's a better Character development (Don't get me wrong; the characters were developed, I for one just expected more - Especially the family side of the detectives).
I recommend this movie to anyone!

7. Journey To self

photo
Starring: Nse Ikpe-Etim, Dakore Akande, Ashionye Michelle Raccah, Tosin Sido and Katherine Obiang.
Year of production: 2013
Production Platform: Fressia Entertainment
Directed by: Tope Oshin-Ogun
Genre: Melo-Drama
Shot on: RedOne
NOTES: Oh God, okay this movie is beautiful! - storywise. It used the 'slow-pacing' method to get its message across. Also the Colour Grading was perfect for a movie of that genre....'cool, tinted'....awesome! And then A star studded movie....Eye candy stars at that. Beautiful Music too that suits the mood of the movie. This movie would've been higher on my list, but the sound was a let down.
-Con: The Sound! And it is slow (I don't know if this should be a CON)! So if you dislike Slow movies....don't bother about this cos you gonna hate it!

6. Hoodrush

photo

Starring: OC Ukeje, Bimbo Akintola, Gabriel Afolayan, Chelsea Eze and Ijeoma Agu
Year of production: 2012
Production Platform: Flipsyde Studios
Directed by: Dimeji Ajibola
Genre: Musical
Shot on: 35mm 'Digital Camera Setup'
NOTES: Another brilliant movie. Good storyline and good cinematography ...and melodic songs. Brilliant performance from Bimbo Akintola! OC and Gabriel weren't bad either.
-Con: I don't know if this is a con, but the movie is actually eeeermmm........146 Minutes long. That shouldn't be a problem for bollywood fans, I guess.
I recommend this to anyone...even if you have problem with the duration, sha go see it! You ain't gonna realize how fast the time would fly!

5. Confusion Nawa

photo

Starring: Ramsey Noah, OC Ukeje, Tunde Aladese, Ali Nuhu, Tony Goodman and Gold Ikponmwosa
Year of production: 2013
Production Platform: Cinema Kpatakpata
Directed by: Kenneth Gyang
Genre: Dramedy
Shot on: HDSLR
NOTES: Brilliant Script-writing! Brilliant script-writing! That is the star of this film. A very simple story that is well written, that is Confusion Na Wa. I must say I bashed this film no be small...the title alone, the poster, the name of the production company sef, the trailer.....everything looked like such a big joke then and I was turned off. After seeing the movie 'by mistake', I was pleasantly surprised and I chewed my words. I hope the filmmakers would consider what the title of a movie can do to their film next time!
I recommend this to everyone!

4. Ties that Bind

photo

Genre: Drama
Shot on: RedOne.
Brilliant Story! Brilliant Cinematography! Brilliant performance from the casts. Tight dialogues with memorable quotes! It was just a pleasant experience watching this movie.
-Con: too much generalization. But w.t.h, it's fiction!
I recommend this to anyone.

3. Awakening

photo

Starring: Kehinde Bankole, OC Ukeje, Femi Brainard and Bryan Okwara

Patience Jonathan Blasts Governor Akpabio: Stop Deceiving My Husband, You Have a Secret Agenda

Governor Godswill Akpabio is one of the governors believed to be close to President Goodluck Jonathan in the political calculation of 2015, but those who know what is really going on are saying that Akpabio is also one of those on Jonathan's 1,000 political watch list that ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo exposed.

As you read this, the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party as a result of President Jonathan’s second term ambition may have claimed another casualty. The latest, according to an inside source, is the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio, as his secret ambition has finally come out open.

Inside sources within the nation’s seat of power informed THE INK newspaper that Nigeria’s first lady and wife of the President, Dame Patience Jonathan descended ferociously on Akpabio at the Presidential Villa in Abuja recently, accusing him of being a cog in the wheel of the process to resolve the crisis in the PDP.

According to the source, a visibly angry Patience Jonathan shouted at the Governor and asked him why he is busy deceiving her husband, President Jonathan.

She was said to have told Governor Akpabio point blank that he should stop masquerading himself before her husband as a peacemaker and concentrate on his now revealed Vice Presidential ambition.

Reports reaching the First Lady, the source continued, have confirmed that Governor Akpabio’s treachery and pursuit of his Vice Presidential ambition is responsible for the failure of the reconciliation process in the party and one of the reasons the G7 Governors have ditched the party.

It was further revealed that the First Lady accused the Governor of being on a mission to destroy Jonathan for his selfish interest. She is said to have cited Akpabio’s recent spate of private visits to leading traditional rulers and politicians in the North and other parts of Nigeria.

The President’s wife is said to have told the Governor that she was aware that Akpabio is working for his own ambition while pretending to be working for the re-election of the President. The source who spoke on strict confidentiality said that a visibly embarrassed Akpabio was dumbfounded and broke down in tears.

Events, artistes that shaped 2013

Events, artistes that shaped 2013

Events, artistes that shaped 2013
By Nonye Nkwocha
As 2013 draws to a close, it is time to take stock of events and artistes that shaped the year. Indeed, it was an eventful year, a year full of surprises as it witnessed many upsets and of course, new revelations. The Entertainer brings you the prime events and musicians who dominated 2013.
KCEE’s moment
KCEE has finally broken the jinx and found his footing. His track, Limpopo could get nominated for the award for Song of the Year. It received millions of downloads online and completed the successful transformation of KC of KC Presh to KCEE.
With the release of his album, Pull Over, the lead track has seized the airwaves and there’s no doubt that this is KCEE’s moment! He has successfully given us back to back two straight hits.
For this effort, most music fans may tip KCEE for The Music Man of The Year Award.
Sean Tizzle, Revelation of The Year
The year will go down as one when hip-hop singer, Sean Tizzle (Seun Morihanfen) established himself as a force to reckon with in the music industry. From nowhere, the act shot into the limelight following the success of his runaway single, Sho Lee. He also performed on the biggest platforms including Julius Agwu’s Crack Ya Ribs. As 2014 rolls in, Sean Tizzle is definitely one of the acts to watch out for.
Rise and rise of new generation stars
2013 remains a remarkable year for new generation singers. Wizkid, Olamide and Davido all gave a good account of themselves in the year under review. Wizkid set night clubs and parties bubbling with his hit track, Back To The Matter, Carol and Jaiye Jaiye, featuring Femi Kuti, while Davido ruled with Skelewu and Phyno made an impact with Ghost Mode, featuring Wizkid. Olamide’s new album, Yahoo Boy No Laptop featuring the hit song, Duro So Ke, also made huge impact and as 2014 beckons, these acts are on top of the watch list.
However, one musician we cannot ignore is Burna Boy whose latest album, LIFE, an Afrofusion has been a resounding success.
Year of Skelewu
It was definitely a good year for hip hop singer, Davido. He started a new thing in music when he dropped his latest track, Skelewu, which came with its own dance steps. The track could have been just one of those tracks of 2013, but the act made so much noise about it and there was talk of his shooting several videos which cost millions. Before one could say Jackie Robinson, Skelewu was everywhere. Davido is definitely going places in the New Year.
Iyanya’s year of endorsements
Until Tuface’s N20 million-endorsement deal with Guinness Nigeria Plc in 2004, endorsements were rarely heard of as far as Nigerian music was concerned. However, all that has changed. And now, Iyanya would not forget this year in a hurry as far as endorsement is concerned. The artiste raked in a whopping N130 million from endorsements in the year under review.
Iyanya hit pay dirt when he closed a deal with Solo Mobile worth N35 million. A while later, he got a N40 million ambassadorship deal with MTN, and before anyone knew what was happening, he had inked another endorsement deal worth N65 million with Zinox Technologies Limited.
As 2014 beckons, Iyanya has no excuse but to take his game to the next level.
Goldie’s shocking exit
It was with shock that Nigerians on February 14 woke up to receive the news of the passing away of Susan Harvey popularly known as Goldie. What made her sudden exit so painful was that the singer died just when her career was beginning to blossom on Valentine’s Day after she returned from the Grammy Awards.
Reports later revealed that Goldie succumbed to hypertension, and as the week rolled by, she became the source of even more controversy as her husband, Andrew Harvey, whom she successfully hid from the media popped out of the blues. The Briton declared that he was the singer’s only legal husband amid reports that she was having an affair with BBA’s Prezzo, even as there was talk of marriage between the two housemates.

9ice warns BLOGGERS not to upload his song

Recently, 9ice has gradually been making efforts to get back into the minds of some lovers of good music in Nigeria. Even though his recent music career has not matched that of his ‘Gongo Aso’ days when he stole the shows and headlined big gigs across the world, some critics have given a clean bill of health to bounce back.
Few years ago, he even got the rare privilege to perform for one of Africa’s greatest legends, Nelson Mandela during his birthday. It was a great feat achieved by the estranged husband of Toni Payne.

The artiste has reportedly been struggling like a new born baby to gain his feet back in the industry he once ruled.

However, 9ice, some hours ago, warned website and blogs owners to stop uploading his songs on their platforms without his consent.

He took to twitter to give out this warning. “please stop uploading my songs on your websites without my permission. Good intention wrong execution. Pls honour this,” 9ice wrote.

Hollywood casting director, Jen Rubin has revealed that super star Beyonce once refused to audition for a role as Princess Tiana in the Disney animation, Princess And The Frog in 2009. In her recently released autobiography, ‘Confession of a Casting Director,’ Ruben said, Alicia Keys, Tyra Banks and Jennifer Hudson tired but failed.
According to Rubin, ‘Beyonce expected an offer’, but wouldn’t audition and so she didn’t get one, meanwhile Alicia Keys auditioned three times but failed to secure the part. However the role went to DreamGirls star, Anika Noni Rose who was ‘the most qualified’.

The 2009 animated fairy tale, loosely based on E. D. Baker‘s The Frog Princess, was a landmark in Walt Disney Studio history, as it was the first time a black character was cast as the lead protagonist. So it was unsurprising that so many famous black stars wanted to play the role of the poor young waitress Tiana who falls in love with a prince, but as to escape life as a frog before getting her happy ever after.
In Confessions Of A Casting Director, Rubin stated that,Tyra Banks, Jennifer Hudson wanted it. They had to sing, so we made it clear they needed sheet music. Tyra came in with a CD, but it didn’t matter because she was so pretty and nice. It however went to Anika Noni Rose, who was the most qualified.’

Confusion Trails ASUU’s Move To Suspend Strike

Confusion Trails ASUU’s Move To Suspend Strike

By: Obodo Joseph November 12, 2013
The next move of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is not yet clear, even after its zonal chapters have held congress meetings to deliberate on a new offer from the federal government. The union’s National Executive Council (NEC) is expected to hold a decisive meeting tomorrow to make its final position known.
Following a marathon meeting with President Jonathan last week, the ASUU leadership had briefed the zonal coordinators on the outcome and consequently directed the local branches to organise congress meetings to vote for or against the suspension of the four-month-old strike.
But reports coming from the Jos chapter of ASUU yesterday said the lecturers voted in favour of continuation of the strike on the grounds that the meeting between the union and Jonathan did not achieve anything concrete.
The Jos decision was taken at a referendum where 194 voted for the strike to be continued while 80 voted in favour of a suspension. Those who spoke in favour of the strike to continue wondered why it should be called off on the basis of pleas and verbal promises by the President Jonathan when the government is allegedly reputed for not honouring agreements.
LEADERSHIP further gathered that those rooting for the suspension of the strike spoke passionately on the need to consider the impact of the strike on students and the gesture from Jonathan who met personally with ASUU leaders and pleaded with them to suspend the strike.
Dr David Jangkham, chairman of the University of Jos chapter, after announcing the results of the voting, said the national body which would collate the referendum from various chapters will come up with a stand on whether the strike would be suspended or sustained.
The ASUU congress, University of Ibadan, failed to reach a resolution to end the strike.
Although journalists were barred from covering the congress, feelers have it that members asked their leadership to commit the president to signing the resolution of FG/ASUU meeting held last week and include a non-victimisation clause so as not to allow any contentious issue to be generated afterwards about the agreement.
Also speaking in a solidarity appearance at the congress, former minister of petroleum Prof. Tam David West yesterday warned that only justice in all sectors can stop any form of strike in Nigeria.
He said, “ASUU will continue to go on strike as long as there is injustice in the system. I am not congratulating the president. How can I commend him for a wasted five months? This should be condemned. You must sign what you will implement. I am saying that I will continue to support ASUU struggles.”
As at the time of filing this report, members of the ASUU at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, were still holding the chapter’s congress, but sources close to the union confirmed that members had already opted for the suspension of the industrial action.
Similarly, other members of the union from various other campuses including Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso; Rivers State University of Science and Technology, RSUST, Port Harcourt; and Kogi State University, Ayingba, told LEADERSHIP that they were optimistic that the strike would be called off on Thursday after the NEC might have met between tomorrow evening and Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, arrangements have been concluded for tomorrow’s crucial NEC meeting of the ASUU at the Bayero University, Kano, where the protracted strike embarked upon by the teachers’ union is expected to be called off.
Investigations by LEADERSHIP revealed that some of the union’s chapters’ leaders were already moving to the venue of the meeting as at yesterday following the conclusion of their congresses earlier in the day.
The chairman of the University of Lagos, UNILAG, chapter of the union, Dr Oghenekaro Ogbinaka, told LEADERSHIP that he was already on his way to Kano when the newspaper called to know the outcome of the chapter’s congress.
But efforts to speak to the chairman of the NEC’s host university, Dr A. Baffa, was unsuccessful as calls put through to his mobile line were unanswered.
Incidentally, some university students are already getting set to return to campuses and have appealed to ASUU not to dampen their spirits. Some students, however, said that the timing of the suspension could pose a challenge.
One of the students who sought anonymity said, “I’ll be glad if the strike is called off, because it is long overdue but there might be a problem with the timing. There is every possibility that once we get back to school, we’d be rushed through the first semester and might find ourselves writing exams when we are hardly prepared for it.”
Another student said, “Many of us, the affected students, have not been idle during this period. We have projects already in motion that would be abruptly cut short if we are called back to school now. It won’t be a very bad idea if we start the academic year on a fresh page in January.”
A 300-level student also said that academic performances of students might suffer. She said, “Many students have become very distant from their books and, since exams might be looming almost immediately after resumption, we might not have enough time to reconcile ourselves with our academic level before the strike.”

Jonathan frowns at disruption of academic activities in varsities
President Goodluck Jonathan has frowned at the frequent strikes and disruptions of academic activities in tertiary institutions, particularly universities in the country, saying this has negatively affected the quality and output of the system.
He has therefore, called on the staff unions of these institutions to continue to emphasise dialogue in the resolution of conflict or any misunderstanding.
Jonathan who was represented by the supervising minister of education, Nyesom Wike, spoke yesterday while declaring open the 2nd National Education Innovations Exhibition holding at Old Parade Ground, Abuja.
Jonathan, who spoke against the backdrop of the over four-month-old strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) as well as the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), said there was the need for all Nigerians to demonstrate “a sense of patriotism in dealing with situations that involve the future of our children and country”.
He said: “We need therefore to be conscious of the impact on our children, institutions and the country at large, of unnecessary disruptions in our educational institutions. There is therefore the need to emphasize dialogue where conflict or any sort of misunderstanding arose. This is the civilized approach to doing things so as not to have negative effect on society.”
He added that with so much investment in higher education by his administration, the challenge should be on getting value for the nation, saying this value must be in relation to quality education and research output.
President Jonathan, while challenging universities and other tertiary institutions on innovativeness, stressed that tertiary institutions must provide the necessary leadership in providing the body of knowledge to move the country forward.
He maintained that the position of Nigeria as a great nation in this and subsequent centuries would be dependent on how the education system is repositioned in order to drive the nation’s development and competitive advantage.
Jonathan further charged the tertiary institutions in the country to link their output with national development needs, adding that higher institutions should be able to develop collaborative arrangements with the private sector to enhance getting their work into the wider society.
He revealed that as part of efforts to improve on the creativity amongst the youth in the country, his administration has, in the past three years, provided over 70million English language, Mathematics, Basic Science and Technology activity books for primary 1 to 6.
Jonathan said over 7 million library resource materials have also been provided for junior secondary schools, while TETFund has in the High Impact fund, provided over N109 billion in the five phases to support tertiary institutions in enhancing their capacity as centres of excellence.
Wike disclosed that the federal government will, in the next few days, release the sum of N3 billion under the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Research Scheme, as initial grant to support educational institutions and individuals in research and innovation across the country.
He urged the tertiary institutions in the country to appreciate the huge investment of the federal government in the sector and ensure that there is commensurate return on investment through notable achievements in research and innovation.

ASUU sued for illegal strike 08 November 2013, 07:33

Abuja – Various civil society groups have dragged the Academic Staff Union of Universities to court in what they believe to be an illegal and arbitrary strike, Tribune reports.

The Northern Nigeria Democratic Forum (NNDF) has referred to the strike as jeopardizing students right to education and question whether they are able to strike over a breach of a memorandum of agreement.

The Golden Women of Integrity and Vision Association sued the union over similar reasons, while the Poverty Alleviation Advocacy and Justice Initiative (PAAJI) appealed for the court to award special damages against the union.

Nigeria sweep awards at U-17 World Cup 09 November 2013, 06:10

Abuja - Nigeria on Friday in Abu Dhabi in the UAE claimed three individual and one team awards to add to the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
The country’s under-17 men football team won the competition with a 3-0 win over defending champions Mexico.
But it did not end there for the competition’s most successful team as two of its players were among the award winners, while it also won an award as a team.
The team’s highest goalscorer, Kelechi Iheanacho, emerged as the competition’s most outstanding player by winning the adidas Golden Ball.
The player who scored a total of five goals against Mexico, with four in a group match and one in the final, scored a total of six goals in the competition.
This was apart from providing seven assists as the team scored 26 goals in seven matches.
He has thus emulated the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Landon Donovan and Toni Kroos before him.
He also won the adidas Silver Boot as the competition’s second highest goalscorer with six goals, one behind the top scorer Valmir Berisha of Sweden.
Goalkeeper Dele Alampasu also won the adidas Golden Glove as the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
Nigeria, now record four times winners of the competition, also won the FIFA Fair Play award for its sportsmanship and approach to the game.

Strike: ASUU’s Aim Is Bringing Down Jonathan’s Government

Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, has alleged that the strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) was aimed at bringing down the government of President Goodluck Jonathan.
Suswam, who is the chairman of the Federal Government’s Needs Assessment Committee for Nigerian Universities said: “ASUU’s leadership is determined that PDP government must be brought down and the easiest way to do it is ensuring that every family is affected. And so, the Nigerian family will simply say, ‘look, to keep this government in place, our children will be out of school. So it is better that we kick this government out and bring another government.’
“That is all they are doing. There is nothing to it. Otherwise, the Federal Government has touched on all the requests that led to the strike by ASUU. They have no basis rather than playing politics with the strike and then holding the nation hostage and destroying the future of this country.”
Speaking further, Suswam said, “I feel that if it is not that they have introduced politics, you know people can’t say that they don’t have political leanings. ASUU’s leadership, we know where they are standing in this whole political process. They can’t deny that they are sympathising with opposition parties and they are determined to destroy the PDP government. That is what they are doing and it is nothing more than that.”
The Benue State governor, who had attended several meetings with ASUU on government side, said the nine issues raised by the academic union had been attended to, though not 100 per cent.
He said: “I think that it is unfair. And I keep saying it that they have introduced politics into it. It’s purely political. There is no way that any person can say any other thing. It is just to portray the government in bad light so that people will say that you have a government that is not capable of keeping the children in school. That is pure politics. There is nothing more to it because if you present nine issues and all of them have been attended to, even if not attended to 100 per cent, at least you should appreciate that efforts have been made and you should say that it is okay because this has been done.
“There were a lot of issues that were presented. Constitution of governing councils has been done; they said they should help them set up pension administrator, N250 million was given to them; they said they wanted the properties of universities handed over to them, government said go and form companies and compete, we will do that. You know a couple of other things, the need assessment, an initial N100 billion has been distributed.
“The retirement age, they say they don’t want to retire at 65, it has been approved, all the academic staff in the university retire at 70. Earned allowance, out of N57 billion, N30 billion has been given.”
Suswam said the issue that had kept the universities closed were not because government could not pay salaries but the earned allowances, adding, “Academic staffs of universities collect more than civil servants in this country…. They have been paying that consistently and nobody is being owed salary. These are issues of allowance.
“This earned allowance; it is not every lecturer in the university that is entitled to it. So, why must it be a reason why you keep the children out of school? It doesn’t make sense and I am surprised most Nigerian are looking at this differently. If in a nation, the whole leaders of tomorrow are being kept out of school, then its means that in future, you can imagine the kind of leaders we would have.”
Suswam spoke of how seriously he took his responsibility as the chairman of the Needs Assessment committee, saying, “Out of this three weeks, may be I spent like just four days in Benue because I was determined that we must raise money for this Needs Assessment. And within those three weeks, that committee which I chaired was able to raise the N100 billion, which has since been shared. Once we shared that money, this people (ASUU) moved to other areas; which is issue of earned allowances, which was being handled by the SGF”, he told Thisday in an interview.

The students’ organisation appeals for an end in strike
The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has expressed it happiness with the recent efforts by the Federal Government and Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU, toward suspending the ongoing national strike by the university lecturers.
The association made it feelings known on Friday in a press statement.
The joint statement by the National Vice President, National Affairs, NANS, Ahmad Jibril, and Secretary General, Momodu Daniels, observed that President Goodluck Jonathan had demonstrated concern towards the demands of the Union. The association urged the lecturers to, therefore, reciprocate the gesture by suspending the strike to enable students resume school.
Some parts of the statement reads, “The national leadership of the National Association of Nigeria Students, NANS, wish to express its gratitude over the recent development in the ongoing ASUU strike.
“We, as student executives, must commend President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for prioritising the concerns of ASUU in recent time by having extensive meetings with the ASUU leadership, with the view of bringing an end to the protracted industrial action. We appeal to our lecturers to shift ground and call off the strike.”
The statement by the student group particularly commended the lecturers for the struggle, which, according to the students’ association, was aimed at upgrading the academic standards in Nigerian universities.
“We want to appreciate the perseverance of ASUU towards better education in our dear country, even though the ongoing strike has had a negative effect on us as students.
“While awaiting the resolution of ASUU, we wish to plead that they show their patriotism by constraining the adverse effects the strike has had on the entire Nigerian students.”
The association assured Nigerian student of its resolve in ensuring their welfare.
“NANS is very committed to securing the welfare of Nigerian students and the peaceful integration of our dear country Nigeria,” it said.
ASUU embarked on the nationwide strike on July 1.

Quite a few people have seen and interacted with Tonto at D'banj's place and some even think she's his current babe because of how much time she spends there and some of the 'things' the two stars get up to. but me I don't know that one oh, all I know is that she spends time there to further her music career and I do not know if D'banj is planning to sign her to his record label but he once said that if he signs her, she will blow .

Wednesday, 6 November 2013 | 10:22
It was a shameful scenario this morning at Nu Grotto, a club located near Cool FM in Victoria Island, Lagos, as a bouncer attached to controversial pop singer, Davido allegedly beat up the club's bouncer and DJ, destroying some properties of the club in the process.

According to reports, Davido was about leaving the club when the club's DJ identified as JD picked up Davido's ATM card, which had fallen from him unnoticed, and then tried to hand it over to the singer.

As the DJ tried to get close to the singer to hand over the ATM card to him, he was stopped by Davido's bouncer. This infuriated the DJ who then reportedly insulted the bouncer, which resulted into him getting some slaps from the angry bouncer.

The bouncer didn't stop there as he went on to allegedly beat up the club's bouncer identified as Big Sam, and thereafter allegedly destroyed some drinks on the club's shelves. Four guests at the club were reportedly wounded in the incident.
A witness and victim of the brawl explained the incident in a series of posts on her Twitter page:

ASUU STRIKE: Why ASUU refused to call off after meeting with Jonathan

ASUU STRIKE: Why ASUU refused to call off after meeting with Jonathan

The major reason why ASUU has refused to call off its prolonged strike is the mind-boggling salaries and the unending allowances of political office holders in Nigeria, especially the Executive and Legislature.
OluFamous.Com gathered that it is with this ‘trouble’ that ASUU leaders entered into a closed door meeting in Aso Rock with President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday. Sensing that the lecturers were ready to speak their minds without fear, the meeting was shifted to the First Lady Conference Room.
Indication that the strike may be called off emerged when Jonathan said, while shaking hands with members of the delegation, that: “The matter must be resolved here today. Our children must go back to school.”
The meeting went into the early hours of Tuesday, all in a bid to find a final resolution to the strike that started on July 1, 2013. ASUU had the support of NLC President, Abdulawahid Omar, in the meeting.
On his part, Jonathan was joined by VP Sambo; Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; Anyim Pius Anyim; Nyesom Wike and Minister of Labour, Emeka Wogu.
OluFamous.Com gathered that if ASUU should have its way, the strike will end soon but their would be some general reduction in the salary of political office holders across board by 2014.
The President of ASUU is expected to meet his members on Tuesday to take a final decision on the strike.

Falcao Will Not Leave Monaco in January- Club Vice-President

Falcao Will Not Leave Monaco in January- Club Vice-President

 on November 2, 2013
Monaco vice-president, Vadim Vasilyev, has hit out at suggestions that Radamel Falcao could leave the club for Real Madrid in January, saying such a move would make “no sense”.
In an interview with Madrid-based sports daily Marca, Vasilyev said the principality club had no intention of allowing the Colombian to leave just six months after signing him for a reported 60 million euros ($81.2m, £50.7m) from Atletico Madrid.
Vasilyev was speaking after Real Madrid president Florentino Perez said on Spanish television in October that Falcao- currently Ligue 1′s leading scorer with eight goals- “was keen to come to Madrid”.
Radamel Falcao Signed a Five-year Deal With AS Monaco Last June.

“Falcao signed a five-year contract and, if I have to say it a hundred times I will, there is no clause allowing him to leave,” said Vasilyev, who added that he felt it was “inappropriate” for a director of another club to talk about a player who was under contract at Monaco.

The Federal Government has been advised by the non-teaching staff in tertiary institutions in Nigeria, to ignore the Memorandum of Understanding it entered into with the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, saying its implementation would lead to another round of crisis.
The non-teaching Staff comprising Non-Academic Staff Union of Education and Associated Institutions, NASU, National Association of Academic Technologists, NAAT, and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU rather advised government to implement the 2009 agreements it entered with the unions in tertiary institutions.
In a statement signed by Samson Ugwoke, President of SSANU and spokesperson of NAAT, SSANU and NASU tited, ‘Our stand on the on-going ASUU strike’, the unions sympathised with ASUU but noted that the MoU was not in the best interest of the education sector.
It stated “We sympathise and solidarise with our sister union, ASUU over their long drawn struggle for the welfare of their members. We urged the government to build more confidence in governance, at all times, by respecting agreements it freely enters into with unions.
“However, we caution that any settlement of the current dispute must take into account the interests of all the university-based unions (NAAT, SSANU, NASU and ASUU). The three Non-Teaching Staff Unions of NAAT, SSANU and NASU are opposed to any extraneous demands by either ASUU or any group in the university which are prejudicial to the welfare of our members.

Rumor making it round the pipes is that there is an underground plot by the movie marketers under the aegis of Film and Video Producers and Marketers Association of Nigeria, FVPMAN, to blacklist Mercy Johnson Okojie,, in what they call, “ Withdrawing of service from her.”
A highly reliable source who reported that this move against the Actress to HVP, said, the association decided to take this action, following the ‘unbecoming attitude of the actress as it affects her work.”
According to the source, members of the association met last Monday, in Onitsha, Anambra State, to fine-tune plans to blacklist the actress who recently returned to Nollywood after months of being away in the United States, where she gave birth to her first child.
There reasons aren’t really clear but the source disclosed that the marketers accused Mercy Johnson of forming the habit of disappearing while on location after she has been paid for the job.
However, the source further hinted that the marketers have vowed to sanction any member who disregard the decision to blacklist the actress.
