Abuja – Various civil society groups have dragged the Academic Staff
Union of Universities to court in what they believe to be an illegal and
arbitrary strike, Tribune reports.
The
Northern Nigeria Democratic Forum (NNDF) has referred to the strike as
jeopardizing students right to education and question whether they are
able to strike over a breach of a memorandum of agreement.
The
Golden Women of Integrity and Vision Association sued the union over
similar reasons, while the Poverty Alleviation Advocacy and Justice
Initiative (PAAJI) appealed for the court to award special damages
against the union.
